Jonny’s been looking after our garden for over seven years, mowing lawns, trimming edges, pruning shrubs and hedges, weeding, feeding, selecting, planting and nurturing new plants as well as tackling our hugely persistent wisteria and laurel.
The garden always looks immaculate after Jonny’s weekly (fortnightly in winter) visit. I never cease to be impressed by how much he gets through in his allotted hour. It’s great to look out and see a garden transformed; beautifully striped, healthy, green lawn; leaves hoovered up; weeds gone, edges neat and plants thriving.
Jonny is conscientious, punctual and reliable, keeping us posted on when he’ll visit if he needs to work around the rain. He’ll go above and beyond; for example, helping to clear a bramble-filled ‘pit’ and lay membrane and bark chippings in time for our son’s outdoor party. And regularly bringing his ladder and platform so he can tame our climbing plants and huge laurel hedge.
He advises us on which plants would work well in which beds, and will recommend and buy plants for us according to our vague ideas about what we’d like to see! Our beds look lovely now – a mass of different colours, shapes and textures, which is what we always wanted but had no idea how to achieve.

Jon has been looking after our garden for nearly 20 years, focused on maintaining and developing large flowers beds with a mixture of herbaceous, shrubs and trees. Over this time he has developed an understanding of our preferences and makes informed choices on plants that will add to the garden, we are happy to follow his suggestions.
A real benefit for us of having Jon about is that he is not rigidly constrained by only dealing with planting up, when the leaves of our sycamores need sweeping up or a new flower bed is thought about he is happy to assist sweeping and digging even weeding the patio, all of which give us more time to enjoy our space.
Communication with Jon is very easy, a quick chat and update over a cup of tea or sometimes coffee when he is over and the course for the next month is set. Jon also keeps us informed of time he may be away on holidays or other events and explains how he will either make up allotted hours or advise any reductions in the bill. Jon has worked for us for many years; when he started it was a fairly “empty” garden. He comes on a regular schedule, and primarily carries out maintenance.
He has an amazing knowledge of plants. Our garden is always commented on by friends as looking beautiful, being full of greenery and colour even at the lowest points during the year - this is a tribute to the ongoing attention paid by Jon.

Jon has been coming to us since November 2024. The first thing I asked Jon was “do you do weeds?”. I am pleased to say he answered in the affirmative. We had a lot of weeds at the time! We are not keen or knowledgeable gardeners but pleased Jon is both.
Generally, he aims to keep the garden tidy. As well weeding that includes occasionally cutting, scarifying and feeding the lawn when required. Pruning, cutting back borders etc. He will always tackle anything requested and advise of alternatives if not possible.
Punctual and reliable and will get on with tasks in our absence. He also turns up in the most extreme of weathers.

Jonny has worked for us for several years now, is reliable and trustworthy and brings along significant horticultural knowledge. He is always on hand to provide advice on garden matters and is also able to carry out regular tasks without being directed.
